CSD has played a major role in the Job Corps national program since it was initiated in 1964. Funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), the Job Corps program aids disadvantaged youth by providing education (high school diplomas or GED certificate) as well as vocational training in a residential setting, then placing graduates in jobs that use their newly acquired skills.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:
1. Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles
2. Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation
3. Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning
4. Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport
5. Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available
6. Responsible for the maintenance of student personnel folders
7. Records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area
8. Assists in the completion of all necessary Job Corps forms
9. Responsible for insuring that the equipment and supplies are cared for
10. Accountable for the cleanliness of classrooms
11. Responsible for reports required by the Manager such as student/staff hours, requisitions and monthly student evaluations
12. Assists Manager during scheduled inventory

Qualifications:
Minimum: State certified, licensed or accredited by a professional trade organization. No teaching experience required, however, if candidate is not state certified he/she must have practical experience in the subject/trade area. Must have the ability to transfer topical knowledge to meet specific learning objectives
Preferred: Extensive practical knowledge of trade and teaching experience
General Information: In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, candidate must be able to compose/write descriptive reports; use appropriate techniques to implement programmatic activities; verbally direct individuals and groups; remedy dysfunctional behavior; intervene with students in crisis with aggression control/safe physical management restraint techniques; successfully complete mandated training courses.
Knowledge Required: Knowledge of methods needed to instill appropriate behavior as well as work and study habits in adolescent students; of housekeeping techniques and management; to read, comprehend, interpret, communicate and execute instructions or directives fluently in English.
